At least 19 people are feared dead after two bomb attacks on the popular tourist island of Bali, it is reported.

Explosions have been confirmed in Jimbaran beach and the Kuta area, where 202 people died in terrorist bombings nearly three years to the day.

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who condemned the "criminal act", said he had been warned terrorists were planning an attack.

A senior Bali police official said the blasts were caused by two bombs.

The AP news agency says at least 19 people are dead while a French Embassy official who visited two hospitals says 23 were killed.

Around 51 people are reported injured, among them 35 foreigners.

Indonesian police officials say two cafes were hit by two explosions, while local media say there were four blasts.
